Guitar Hero Live struggled to return the series to its former glory, with criticism going toward its microtransactions, weaker soundtrack, and inability to own downloadable songs. However, the big struggle that a Guitar Hero revival may face is whether or not audiences care enough to play a new one. Xbox Game Pass would also give the series a chance at some new life, as the ownership of Activision would allow Xbox to add the game to the service at launch.
A legion of younger players may not have had the ability to play Guitar Hero in the past, and a return would open the door to allow a new generation to experience the series. One positive of a potential Guitar Hero return would be reintroducing the franchise to new audiences.
